Adobe House Farm is the manifestation of a childhood dream. Started in 2010 in the Animas Valley just north of Durango, CO, Adobe House Farm includes founders Linley and Peter Dixon, their brother Reid Smith, and various seasonal workers and volunteers throughout the years. Adobe House Farm started in the yard of a family-friend's adobe house, which gives the farm its name, and was the central location until the farm found a permanent home in 2017 in Hermosa, CO.
Through the years, the farm has grown into two solar-heated tunnels, two unheated hoop houses, and several acres of outdoor annual and perennial growing beds. The farm uses drip irrigation from ditch water supplied from the Animas River, uses electricity generated from solar panels, and uses organic matter from locally collected sources. All planting, harvesting, and washing is done by hand. We are a proud certified Organic and Real Organic farm, which means we go beyond the organic standard by growing in the soil and building it at the same time.
Special Thanks to all those who have helped in some capacity over the years - as a volunteer, a worker, a customer, a friend. Together we make the vision of a healthier local food system more of a reality every day.
